OVERVIEW
At Lavazza, the Transportation Specialist is a key contributor to the Supply Chain Department. In this role, the Transportation Specialist will oversee and manage all activities related to carriers and to the transportation of goods from local US suppliers and to customers, ensuring efficient and timely transportation. In addition to evaluating and designing transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency. Research and analyse freight costs and classifications, delivery methods, and delivery schedules to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be an essential conduit between internal purchasers, customer service, third-party warehouses, trucking vendors, documentation, and end customers to ensure order flow is accurate, constant within agreed shipment period.
- Implement and manage Salesforce platform with Lavazza internal and external customers.
- Embody and exhibit high level of communication and sense of urgency up and down the supply-chain to ensure that all parties are aware of plans, issues and remedial actions.
- Proactively develop, recommend and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs in support of the transportation strategy.
- Manage customer delivery requirements in partnership with Customer Service and ensure correct information is provided to carriers.
- Liaise between Procurement and logistics to make sure we have competitive rates and defined service levels available for all our needed shipping modes and destinations.
- Can keep track of transportation budget and expenses, as well as proposing improvement plans to optimise flows and costs.
- Manage all Transportation invoices and submit all invoices to Accounts Payable in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Oversee the transportation claims and related follow up all carriers.
- Monitor, track, and communicate all transportation and distribution KPIs and carrier performances.
- Perform other role specific duties as required.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Ability to efficiently and effectively learn new technology (Proprietary Lavazza tools)
- High attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize
- Highly agile and thrives in a fast-paced working environment with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Highly organized and strong project management skills
- Strong collaboration and with the ability to work well cross functionally with all levels of the organization - peers to Executives
- Ability to work in an environment of tight deadlines, and to consistently challenge and be challenged on performance results.
- Microsoft Excel and SAP skills required
- Experience working with suppliers and logistic partners
