OVERVIEW
The R&D Process Engineer will primarily focus on leading process development in order to transform the business through the delivery of new product, packaging & process implementation, improve the business by delivering step change projects on quality & efficiency initiatives and, and sustain the business by delivering factory capability support.
This position will lead the interface between R&D and the Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for driving the implementation of projects, in growth, value leadership, supply continuity using their leadership competencies and functional expertise in process control statistics and six sigma tools/methodologies. With their expertise, the Process Engineer will also support the factory to solve complex problems, leveraging six sigma and lean manufacturing. Design and develop experimental test plans for feasibility and validation. Effectively communicates at multiple levels within the organization and works well on cross-functional teams and with external partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for process feasibility to implementation to operational handover of new product, packaging, and process projects.
- Direct testing (DOE) and evaluations of new and existing components, product, and packaging systems to ensure compatibility of design, machineability and process for the manufacturing floor.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Product Development, and Manufacturing to implement appropriate procedures for qualifying new products, functionality, performance, and low-cost easy manufacturing suitability, with emphasis on cost savings, quality, and marketability.
- Lead the development and communication of the new machinery performance and capability attributes.
- Assist the Validation Engineer in developing qualification protocols for process equipment and automated equipment/systems.
- Design, develop and implement prototype designs and tools to improve and optimize the manufacturing process.
- Work along-side Manufacturing Engineering, Validation Engineering, Quality, New Product Development (NPD), and Operations in the implementation of efficiency, value added and continuous improvement projects.
- Partner for Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to develop standardization & harmonization of and best practice.
- Attend professional activities and events to acquire and expand expertise to keep current and advise on emerging trends in packaging & process technologies, and environmental/ regulatory requirements.
- Provide cross functional coaching and trainings on site for R&D signature processes (six sigma, PLM, etc.).
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Chemical Engineering
- 0-3 years’ experience working in a food, pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer products company
- Demonstrates project management and organizational skills
- Proficient working on a project from development through implementation
- Proficient in conducting Qualifications, Validations, Scale-up, Troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Validation and Unit Operations
- Understanding of the different internal departments and external suppliers
- Proficient in creation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s)
- Experience in statistical analysis tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software and other Lavazza ancillary software
- Demonstrates strong communication capabilities, both verbally and written

- Ability to lift 50lbs and walk/stand for long periods
