JOB OVERVIEW

At Lavazza, the Import & Export Logistics Specialist is a key contributor to the continuity and execution of international trade activities supporting North American operations. In this role, the specialist oversees and manages import and export logistics, documentation, and compliance to ensure the efficient movement of goods across borders while supporting supplier, carrier, and internal stakeholder coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage all activities related to the import and export of goods supporting North American operations
  • Ensure import shipments comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and other Participating Government Agencies (PGA)
  • Work closely with customs brokers, steamship lines and freight forwarders
  • Review and confirm timely submission of Importer Security Filing (ISF)
  • Ensure correctness of customs documentation
  • Assign correct HTS codes for imported and exported goods
  • Review for accuracy, and process supplier, freight and broker invoices
  • Track and trace all shipments from origin up to the arrival to the warehouse
  • Manage all data entry and documentation including, but not limited to, shipping company’s rates, broker invoices customs clearances, and archiving of documentation
  • Coordinate and plan international shipments per agreed upon Incoterms, freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers
  • Validate shipment schedules, vessel delivery dates, container arrivals, and warehouse receipt timelines
  • Manage all logistics-related data entry and documentation, including but not limited to:
    • Bills of Lading (OBL or Seaway)
    • Commercial invoices and packing lists
    • Import and export documentation
    • Customs clearance records
    • Shipping rates within internal systems (e.g., SAP or proprietary tools)
    • Archiving and record retention in accordance with compliance requirements
  • Support export activities, including preparation and coordination of export documentation, compliance with destination-country requirements, and alignment with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, external suppliers, logistics providers, and global HQ partners
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers, logistics vendors, and service providers within SAP and internal systems
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within import/export and logistics workflows
  • Perform other role-specific duties as required

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year degree from an accredited institution, preferably in International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in import/export or international logistics required
  • Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and logistics partners
  • Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize
  • Highly organized with strong project management and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage performance-driven expectations
  • Basic to moderate Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and proprietary systems
