Description

The role is responsible for contributing to the design and development of coffee systems and brewing units, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and product quality. This involves contributing to system architecture development for coffee machines, design and development of mechanical and hydraulic elements, providing seamless integration of all components, and researching and proposing for sustainable solutions. Further, the role entails working closely with relevant Research and Development and cross-functional teams involved in coffee machine development to provide alignment of features and requirements, and contributing to feasibility evaluation and prototypes development. Lastly, the role requires monitoring KPIs and metrics to measure the performance of coffee machine systems and brewing units, monitoring trends, emerging technologies and best practices, and providing reports with key insights and updates to management for decision making.

📊 Your Day-to-day Activities

  • Design and Development of Brewing Systems
    Lead and contribute to the ideation, design, development, prototyping, and deployment of coffee machine brewing units — including mechanical and hydraulic components — ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Cross-functional System Integration
    Collaborate with cross-disciplinary R&D teams (Engineering, Electronics, Food Product, System & Technologies) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and HMI components into cohesive and high-performing coffee systems.
  • Performance Testing and Data Analysis
    Plan and execute testing activities on subsystems (e.g., water heating, brewing, capsule handling), analyze results, perform root cause analysis, manage DFMEA processes, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to support New Product Development and informed decision making.
  • Innovation and Sustainability
    Research and propose innovative and sustainable technical solutions for brewing systems and hydraulic components, staying aligned with emerging technologies, industry trends, and environmental objectives.
  • Supplier and Partner Collaboration
    Support the evaluation and selection of suppliers and technology partners by providing technical input and contributing to the development of proposals for collaboration or procurement.
  • Standards, Documentation, and Knowledge Sharing
    Contribute to the creation and upkeep of design standards, technical documentation, and internal best practices, promoting consistency and effective knowledge transfer within the coffee machine development ecosystem.

💡 Relevant Skills & Competencies

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in mechanical and hydraulic design for manufacturing and technical product development
  • Strong interest in the design and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, with a focus on functionality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with integrating electronic components and automation systems into complex products, ensuring seamless interaction with mechanical and digital interfaces.
  • Ability to monitor and interpret R&D performance metrics and KPIs to support data-driven decisions and project effectiveness.
  • Curiosity and foundational knowledge in coffee science and brewing technologies, with a desire to deepen expertise in product and process innovation.
  • Hands-on approach to testing and validating coffee machine performance in laboratory settings, with attention to consistency, durability, and quality standards.
  • Openness to collaborating with external partners (e.g., universities, research centers, suppliers) to support innovation, compliance, and technical development.
