Job Purpose/Overview


At Lavazza, the Green Bean Operator facilitates the inbound receipt, transfer and storage of green coffee beans into storage silos. This role works closely with the Planning Team, the Roaster Operator, the Quality Team and the Logistics Team to carry out these duties. This individual is responsible for the safe operation of the green bean area handling equipment as well as the transactional aspects of material movement within the Probat system and SAP.

Key Responsibilities


•    Apply GMPs and standard operation procedures to all manufacturing processes
•    Perform product quality testing on incoming shipments before loading into silos
•    Ensure all operator FIFO and traceability duties are accurately and properly carried out
•    Load all green bean lots into the Probat system as well as SAP
•    Ensure the accuracy of the amount of green beans ordered and received
•    Perform daily cleaning and dusting
•    Ensure continuous adequate supply of green beans for roasting operations
•    Perform checks on traps and pest line to prevent increase surges
•    Ensure moisture levels of green beans stay low and inform Quality of issues
•    When necessary, cover the roaster for breaks, vacations, time off etc…
•    Support the implementation of area improvements and communicate information within area of control to ensure best practices and adherence to new processes
•    Be able to lift 70Kgs. (154 lbs.)
•    Some knowledge on MS Excel and Word
•    Performs other related duties and assignments as required
 

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications

•    2-year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
•    1-3 years’ experience in a production environment
•    Must be flexible to all shifts
•    Ability to lift 154lbs and walk/stand/lift for long periods
•    Proven punctuality and attendance record
•    Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and background screen
•    Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using Reliance and appropriate Microsoft Office tools, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as other required software

•    FSSC 22000 understanding and compliance
•    International Standards Organization 14001 and 45001 requirements
•    Understanding of the plant equipment (processing and packaging) and its operation
•    Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
•    Knowledge of Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points and Good Manufacturing Practices
•    High learning agility
•    Demonstrated excellent attitude
•    Ability to continuously learn and apply new methods and techniques
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
•    Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making concerning quality and safety
