Job Purpose/Overview


At Lavazza, the Finance Operation Controller plays a key leadership role within the Lavazza Professional finance department by serving as the Finance business partner to the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Directors. The role has financial ownership over these areas including accounting, financial analysis and reporting, business partnering with appropriate team members, ad-hoc modelling and analysis and other duties as required. The role will be key in driving our controlling costs as well as supporting future endeavours.

Key Responsibilities

•    Responsible for the accuracy of the standard costs starting with the bill of materials and item costs, labour routings, labour rates, as well as overhead assignments
•    Reports variances to set standards in a manner that supervisors and managers can understand and takes corrective action
•    Proactive identification and analysis of business issues and opportunities, including recommendations for future actions
•    Ownership over the month end close process from an operation perspective.  This includes also journal entries
•    Monitors variations in inventory levels and scrap percentages
•    Accountable for the performance of the plant, explaining all production variances on a monthly basis as well as participating in the proactive measures to reduce variances from standard cost
•    Assists with estimating, tracking, and reporting costs associated with new product development
•    Prepare budgets and forecasts together with budget holders

•    The role requires a motivated and driven individual able to work in a high paced environment with changing priorities
•    The job requires a high level of accuracy and ability to truly understand accounting and finance in order to explain details to other departments within the business
•    The role requires the ability to work with many different departments and build quality working relationships with not only the finance team, but other departments and senior leaders
 

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications


•    Four-year college degree from an accredited institution, Accounting / Finance or Business preferred
•    MBA or CPA degree preferred
•    5 - 7 years of relevant experience
•    Prior CPG experience supporting operations. Working knowledge or ROI based tools/analytics 
•    Progressive experience in functional finance teams, supporting operations -- with proven track record of increased business support and P&L accountability. Standing alone with financial ownership of business teams, serving as independent voice of function in team dynamic.
•    In-depth knowledge of General Accounting practices, GAAP and internal controls
•    Excellent SAP and Microsoft Office skills (including advance Excel, Power BI skills)
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
