Job Purpose/Overview


At Lavazza, the A/R Director will manage the daily operations and strategic objectives of the Company’s accounts receivable cycle through design, implementation, maintenance and management of all accounts receivable business functions and procedures for the Accounts Receivable collection process. 

This person will report directly to the Controller and will manage a team of 10 FTE.

Key Responsibilities


  • Responsible for AR Management as a whole – with overall responsibility for proper recording of receivables, application of payments, proper accounting of all adjustments including debit, credit notes, billbacks, deductions, and other adjustments.
  • Overseeing cash receipts processing – accurate application and reporting of weekly cash tracker.
  • Proper recording and application of cash, management of outstanding receivables, and direct interfacing with customers on collection matters and dispute resolution. 
  • Maintaining the database of all deductions/chargebacks. Working closely with the sales team and the retail partners on resolving all chargebacks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support Management by providing timely and accurate reports and trackers for analyzing the AR, creating accurate accruals and forecasting.



Job Specifications/Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting 
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ work experience in credit/collections with responsibility for direct customer contact
  • 3-5 years’ supervisory experience in a service company preferred
  • Provenience from a company in FMCG sector, required
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of proper accounting treatment for accounts receivable transactions and activities
  • Experience handling deductions/chargebacks in a retail environment
  • Understanding of the retail structure: brokers, distributors, customers and knowledge of the AP/chargeback functions within this structure
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
  • Ability to exhibit poise, composure and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations
  • Hands on, self-starting, disciplined, and detail-oriented individual with ability to work independently in a high-volume environment that requires a work product that is highly accurate and timely
  • Must be experienced in and able to demonstrate proficiency with computerized accounts receivable software applications (SAP preferred)
  • Proven punctuality and attendance record
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and background screen
