OVERVIEW

At Lavazza North America, the Supplier Food & Pack Manager is responsible for partnering with key internal stakeholders, suppliers, external manufacturers, and the Headquarters team to develop and implement the Supplier Quality Strategy for Lavazza North America. Purpose is to deliver through direct reports the defined KPIs of Food Safety, Legality and Quality and enable the in-spec delivery of purchased items with a continuous improvement approach, while fostering an environment of collaboration and associate engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and develop a high performing team of SQA associates and provide functional and leadership effectiveness by delivering results through others. Demonstrates leadership by setting direction, deploying resources, coaching, and engaging team members.
  • Ensure the team is trained to levels required by the SQA competence program and a talent pipeline program with clear priorities to continue to drive associate growth & development.
  • Develop, implement, and verify the effectiveness of the Supplier Quality Assurance Program for ingredients, packaging, and external manufacturers in line with the relevant APQP framework and principles conveyed within the Lavazza Sourcing Quality Procedure and industry standards.
  • Drive a healthy Food & Packaging supplier base for Lavazza North America and provide the right Quality for the supplier & external manufacturer portfolio. 
  • Effectively resource supplier development programs to support the sourcing strategies and innovation pipeline.
  • Drive Quality culture within supplier portfolio based on Quality & Procurement metrics.
  • Partner with Procurement, R&D, Quality, and Supply & Logistics to identify and execute inbound material cost, quality, food/product safety, and efficiency/innovation projects. Translate these sourcing strategies into an actionable resource plan for SQA.
  • Network across different Business Units across Lavazza Group and externally with technical and leadership communities that promote quality culture, horizon scanning and robust engagement across supplier portfolio and Lavazza Americas
  • Share and explore the external innovative best practices from suppliers back to the business.
  • Participate in project teams, support and influence a quality mindset on business initiatives associated with innovation, new product development, current products, and value generation activities relevant to the ingredients and packaging supply chain. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or other related science discipline.
  • 5-7 years of experience in related field required with Management experience a plus.
  • Proven record in Quality Strategy development and implementation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Building & developing High Performing teams through fostering associate collaboration and engagement.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

PHYSICAL/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May be required to travel on occasion.
